August K9 Kup

Mixed results on this one. Standard wasn't too bad; I think her lapses were more excited in nature rather than stress because she was quick to come back to me; however, her fabulous go line (which I didn't ask for) at the end seemed stressy and she ran out of the ring by herself. Snooker was going well until she took back to back reds, but she seemed happy enough so I don't mind. Gamblers was ok, except I accidentally put her through Walter's opening instead of hers which called for the teeter instead of the frame. She didn't seem happy on the frame and paused at the top. Again, a stressy line at the end where she ran out of the ring by herself, missing the last jump of the gamble, too bad!

In retrospect, it actually looks better (i.e. Lucy looks happier) on the video than it felt while we were running.

Thanks for posting on my blog, and for adding it to the list of agility blogs! It's nice to know that people are actually reading it.

Your blog is great! I know exactly what it's like to have a dog who stresses easily. Mika used to be just like Lucy. It's taken three years to finally get her happy and stress free, and she still has her off days, but all the hard work has definitely been worth it!

Noticed that you're part of Krazy Kanines -- what a coincidence, we'll be joining next year. :)

Hi Nat,

Thanks for your understanding about Lucy. My other dog Walter's agility journey has been more or less clear sailing so far, quite a different experience. Thanks to Lucy's "issues" I have learned that not all dogs are as easy as Walter. Now when other people's dogs stress out on course, I can much better sympathize with them rather than being all snooty and judgemental. :-)

The Krazy Kanines is a fun agility club. I'm sure you and Mika will enjoy it. I practice at the BF field as well so might run into you there sometime.

I thought you two looked great! Saw a big waggy tail on the table.

Thanks Johann! I think the table might just be Lucy's favourite obstacle!
